Cops suspect drugs, alcohol played factor in fatal Woodlawn crash
Source: Chicago TribuneOct.self storage 06--Chicago police believe drugs and alcohol may have played a factor in a two-vehicle crash that left an 18-year-old female passenger dead, officials said.The crash happened about 2:26 a.m., Chicago Police Department at the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and 63rd Street, News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.The woman, Tabria Jamron, died about 3:40 a.m. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.She lived in the 5600 block of South Prairie Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood, officials said.Police said she was a passenger in a 1999 Infinity sedan along three others. There was also a 22-year-old male and 19-year-old female passenger in the car along with the 20-year-old driver, Mirabelli said.The Infinity was driving west on 63rd street when it ranmini storagea red light at the intersection of Woodlawn and 63rd Street, Mirabelli said.The rear of the Infinity was struck by a 2002 Nissan sedan driven by a 26-year-man who was traveling south on Woodlawn Avenue and who had the green light, police said.Both that driver and his 26-year-old female passenger were not injured. The driver was ticketed for not having insurance, Mirabelli said.The driver of the Infinity was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition had stablized and where he was being questioned by police.Police believe drugs and alcohol may have played a factor in the crash.
