`Two screen sizes' for Apple iPhone 6
Apple's iPhone 6, soon to be the latest installment of the popular mobile phone, will have two screen sizes of 4.存倉7 and 5.7 inches, reports from China said. A post on Weibo quoted a senior executive of Foxconn, parent of FIH Mobile (2038), manufacturer of Apple's iPhones and iPads, as saying there will be two variants of the iPhone 6, mirroring the iPhone 5S and 5C released last year. And the larger size will pack biometric features such as the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. It is expected to be launched in the second half of this year. Meanwhile, rival BlackBerry said on Friday it had filed a lawsuit against a company co-founded by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest that offers a physical ke儲存board that can be attached to some of Apple's touchscreen iPhone 5 models. BlackBerry said the keyboard infringes on its own design. Separately, Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC reported a worse-than-expected fourth-quarter net profit yesterday, despite aggressive cost cutting and a one-time gain. The company reported net profit of NT$300 million (HK$77.7 million), compared with a net loss of NT$2.97 billion in the previous quarter and profit of NT$1.01 billion in the same quarter of 2012. HTC's global market share shrunk to 2.2 percent in the third quarter of 2013 from a peak of 10.3 percent in the third quarter of 2011, data from research firm Gartner show. imogene.wong@singtaonewscorp.com 迷你倉
